Less than 3 years after completing construction on the original building, we began design on this addition and renovation. In addition to adding more space, it was also decided to relocate the building entrance to better address the facility's parking.
Seen here, the new, deeply recessed entrance flanked by the office areas on either side created a landscaped garden to the left.

Much attention was given to the grounds and landscape design. This was partially a carry-over from re-zoning issues during Phase 1, but it was mostly due to the positive feedback and improved productivity real- ized by the employees.

During the time between completing Phase 1 and beginning this project, Guardian had purchased the original building from the developer. Now that they were owner and occupant, we could tailor the design to their identity. Guardian Glass is known all over the world in construction and we chose to focus on this in the lobby. Therefore, the walls of the lobby were designed and constructed using a storefront window sys- tem. We merely inserted different materials to infill the pieces. Their glass was a major component, as well as laser etching their logo onto one of the panes

As in the existing building, the few offices required were located along the perimeter walls and built using interior storefront and glass. This time around, however, even the common walls between offices are glass.
